STATESBORO -- Dereta Nesmith Barnes, 71, died Dec. 10 at home. She was a native of Bulloch county, returning in 1970 after having lived in Waynesboro for many years. She was retired from Brooks Instrument (Fisher-Rosemount Petroleum) and attended Nevils Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
SURVIVORS: three sons, Johnny Minick of Augusta, Wyley Minick of Valdosta, and Ronny Minick of Atlanta, a sister, Cleatus Riggs of Statesboro; five grandchildren, a great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Monday at Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church, burial in the church cemetery. -Savannah Now, Dec 1999
