Violet "Missy" Brock, 80, of Stanardsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully at Martha Jefferson Hospital.

Missy was a devoted daughter, sister, and caretaker. She the the daughter of the late John "Johnnie" Brock Sr. and Frances Brock. Missy was also preceded in death by her son, Eugene Brock. Missy was a dedicated homemaker, she raised her son while caring for her mother. After her sister Beulah died, she helped to raise her niece, Joyce. When guests visited Missy, she always went out of her way to make sure no one left hungry. She was often praised for her cakes and pies.

In recent years, Missy has resided at Golden Living Center - The Cedars Nursing Home in Charlottesville, Virginia. The staff loved Missy's jovial attitude and admired her singing. The staff would often hear her singing hymns. During these final years, Missy's well-being was overseen by her niece, Joyce Brock; and nephew, Maurice Walker.

Missy is survived by one brother, Raymond Brock of Charlottesville, Virginia; her granddaughter, Serena Faulkner of Stanardsville, Virginia; and one sister-in-law, Mabel Brock of Washington, D.C. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service was held Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 71 Shiloh Road, Standardsville, Virginia. Pastor Harrison Williams officiating.
