Ronald D. Whitehead, 80, passed away on May 1, 2012 in Wichita Falls. A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 3, 2012 in Silver Hill Cemetery (Jack County, TX) with Rev. Harvey McMurry, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Ronald was born October 8, 1931 in Oak Park, Illinois to David and Ruth (Edwards) Whitehead. He attended Wichita Falls High School where he played football and was on 2 State Championship teams. After graduation, he attended The University of Texas on a football scholarship. Ron proudly served his country in communications with the US Air Force during the Korean War. Ronald married Eva Lou Riddle on November 26, 1955 in Wichita Falls. Ronald worked for International Harvester and as a land man, before his retirement. Ronald was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed Genealogy and tracing his family ancestry back through many generations. Ron went to the Red Door and The Zone where he enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool with his friends. He loved his dog, Ollie, his companion for many years.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eva, a grandson, Ronald Patrick Whitehead and a granddaughter, Jennifer Whitehead. He is survived by his 4 children: Steve Whitehead and wife Carol, Ronald F. Whitehead and wife Kathy, Patrick E. Whitehead and wife Brenda, all of Wichita Falls, Texas and Ruth Ann Cueto of Bybee, Tennessee, 1 brother, David Whitehead of Wichita Falls, Texas; 6 grandchildren, Royce Alan Ross of Houston, Texas, Kristi Ball and husband Gary of New Port, Tennessee, Erik Cueto and wife Eliza of Dandridge, Tennessee, Jaymin T. Whitehead of Wichita Falls, Texas, Jeff Perrin of Wichita Falls, Texas and Melissa Seals and husband Mark of The Woodlands, Texas and 4 great grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6-7 PM, for visitation.
