Biography

Often referred to as "Stoker" Beamer because he worked for Woodland's fire department. "Dick" as he was mostly known as had the job was to keeping the fire stoked for the fire department's 1874 Clapp & Jones steam fire engine.

Dick or "W.R." was married to Mary Jane Frizzell in Saline Co, MO when he was just 19 and she 18. Their first child, "Gertie" who was born 10 days before Dick's 22nd birthday.

Two more children, a son and then a daughter, would follow before his wife's untimely death. His wife Mary died just after their daughter Mary's birth in 1875
