He was educated in the Nelson County Public School System. Robert joined the church at an early age and was a member of White Rock Baptist Church in Arrington. There he served as an usher and was a member of the trustee board until his health began to fail.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Barbara G. Morse. He also shared a special union with Alease Poindexter and Gloria Smith. He also leaves behind his "sons and daughters," Kathleen Briggs (Nathaniel), of Arrington, Daniel Lee Morse, of Maryland, Michael Morse, of Lynchburg, Keith Morse (Andrea), Barbara Lynn Morse Javier (Luis), both of New York, Candice Vest (Kent), Robert O'Neil Morse and Terrance Morse, all of Arrington; five grandchildren, Shantel Morse, Michael A. Morse Jr., Daniel Lee Morse Jr., Ty Morse and Luke Morse Javier; two brothers, Charles Morse (Edna) and Wardell Morse, both of Maryland; three sisters, Thelma Tucker (Roosevelt), of New Jersey, Janet Long (George), of Lynchburg, and Sharon Morris (Wilbert), of Raleigh, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at White Rock Baptist Church, Arrington, with the Rev. Curtis Hedgeman officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. His remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family is receiving friends and the cortege will assemble at 546 Wilson Hill Road, Arrington.
