LT Anderson started out by enlisting as a young man, rose through the ranks in the US Navy, then spent 3 years in the Virginia Army National Guard and graduated from Officer Candidate School before returning to the US Navy as an officer. He had over 20 years of honorable and dedicated service. Among his awards and commendations, he was also awarded the Joint Service Commendation medal, with the Oak Leaf Cluster as a second award, posthumously.
