Son of Sion Jonathan Lawson and Louisa Lowe.

Enlisted in Co. I, 52nd Infantry Georgia Regiment, on 4 March 1862. Captured at Vicksburg MS on July 4, 1863. Signed oath and released July 16, 1863. Rejoined his unit. Died of disease at Macon GA on May 26, 1864. (Roster of Confederate Soldiers of Georgia 1861-1865; Confederate Veteran Magazine)
