Mary J Canterbury Beverly, 87, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday night, April 24, 2012, surrounded by family. Mary was born on March 22, 1925, in Portage, Ohio, to Arnal and Lulu Canterbury. She married Alvin F. Beverly in Portage on November 25, 1949. After nurses training, she went to New York City and worked at Bellview Hospital. She practiced nursing for 58 years. She worked most of her career as a registered nurse at St. Vincent's Hospital. She enjoyed traveling, birdwatching, nature, and trying new restaurants. Most of all, she enjoyed interacting with and teaching her grandchildren about life. Always a positive, giving person, she will be greatly missed by her entire family and her many friends. She is survived by her children, Kathy (Bill) Siegel, Karen Garn, Gary (Barbara) Beverly; grandchildren, Aaron (Jennie) Toczynski, Stephanie Toczynski, and Christie Toczynski; Adam and Emilie (fiance Ryan Whitesell) Garn; Amanda Beverly, Ashley Beverly, and Heather (Michael) Woessner; great-grandchildren, Austin and Jake Toczynski, Alijah Beverly, Alivia, Abigail, Katelyn, and Kamryn Woessner. She was the fifth in line of nine children. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; her mother, Lulu; father, Arnal, and stepmother, Emily Canterbury; brothers, Earl and Arnal Canterbury; sisters-in-law, Georgia and Pat Canterbury, and great-granddaughter, Ruby Toczynski. The family wants to thank Bowling Green Manor Nursing Home for taking care of and loving her for four years. Friends are invited to visit after 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012, in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Ave. where funeral services will begin at 12:00 noon.
