William Faxel (spelled Foxel by later family members) was born in Villmar, Hessen, Germany. His parents were John Faxel and Catharine Reiche, who were early settlers in Pin Oak, Tx. just outside of Smithville. William married first on May 22, 1866 to Rachel Highsmith. He married second on Oct. 6, 1875 to Sarah Spalding. He married third (and last) to Letha Smith.
