Alice Irene "Nanny" Day, age 97, of Locust Grove, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2012 at her home. She was born October 9, 1914 in Orange County, the daughter of the late Joseph and Cora Washington. Alice was also preceded in death by her husband, William Overton "Son" Day, a son, Howard Day, and sister, Mary Lawson Washington.
She is survived by her four sons William and his wife, Tina, Joseph and his wife, Bessie, and Ulysses and his wife, Teresa, all of Locust Grove, and James and his wife, Annette of Hyattsville MD.
Alice is also survived by three daughters, Clarice Comfort, Cynthia Day, and Alvira Flowers and her husband Lorenzo, all of Locust Grove. She is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 1:00 p.m at Pilgrim Baptist Church, Locust Grove, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
