Martha Huntington, daughter of James S. Huntington, Sr. and Mariah Bowler Huntington married William W. Hayes/Hays on Feb. 22, 1846 in Brown County, Indiana. They had six children together.

Some prior Bio's have indicated Martha had a Great Grandfather who signed the Declaration of Independence, which is in error.

Martha Huntington Hayes' Great Grandfather DID NOT signed Declaration of Independence! However, her Father, James S. Huntington, Sr. (1800-1872) had a Great Grandfather, James Huntington III (1743-1808), who's cousin, Samuel Huntington (1731-1796) signed the Declaration of Independence. Samuel was the son of Nathaniel Huntington (1691-1767).
