POQUOSON - Dorothea M. Bartels, 96, a native of Vermont and resident of Poquoson since 1981, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009.
She was the daughter of the late Clara and Gus Wolfram, and a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Poquoson.
Dorothea was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Henry Bartels; a son, George Bartels; and a brother, Karl Wolfram.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Bennett of Poquoson; three sons, Ret. Lt. Col. Richard Bartels of Wando, S.C., Fred Bartels of Gloucester, and Henry Bartels of Uniondale, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren, Rich Bennett, Perry Bartels, Beth Klein, Rick Bartels, Kerry Hritsik, Jana Robson, Clare McKay, Richard Bartels, Andrew Bartels, Christine Bartels, and Henry Adam Bartels; and 11 great-grandchildren and two more on the way.
