HERRIN -- Beverly Sue Bowles, 79, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, in Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion.

Mrs. Barwick worked at the Boy Scout office in Herrin.

She then worked for The Southern Illinoisan newspaper for several years. She also had several rental properties and owned a gift shop.

She was of Baptist faith.

She was born Sept. 2, 1932, in Herrin, to Orville and Mildred (Bird) Daffron, and they preceded her in death.

Survivors include are one son, John Barwick and girlfriend, Terri Wade, of Cambria; two sisters, Pat Pearce of Glendale, Ariz., and Dixie and husband, Mike Carney, of Carterville; six grandchildren, Gina and husband, Steve Bubanovich, Shelly and husband, Chris Bradford, of Carterville, Katie Barwick of Carterville, Julie and husband, Justin Stearns, of Cambria, David James of Energy and Darin Moore of Marion; four great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Terry Moore of Marion; and close friends, Myrna Wooldridge and LaDonna Waldron, both of Herrin.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jackie Barwick Moore; brother-in-law, Shine Pearce and aunt, Jewell Simmons.

Services will be at Van Natta Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, with the Rev. Brad Harlow officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 20 at the funeral home located at 427 South Park, Herrin.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois Inc. and envelopes will be provided by the funeral home.
