He served his country during WWII as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps, followed by a career in the aerospace industry which spanned more than 46 years.
He was a resident of Santa Maria for over 36 years. During his years in Santa Maria he was active in many community organizations, including Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship, Prison Ministries, Foursquare Church and Pacific Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Kathlene S. Bennett, with whom he recently celebrated his 68th wedding anniversary. One brother, Lowell Bennett of Tina, Missouri and one sister, Doris Vaughan of Odessa, Missouri, three children, Janet Hofmeister of Phoenix, Arizona, John A. Bennett and his wife Nancy and Lisa Wikel both of Santa Maria, five grandchildren, Tom Hofmeister of HatYai, Thailand, Mark Bennett of Hillsboro, Oregon, Daniel Bennett of Redmond, Oregon, Brianne Flores and Shawn Wikel of Santa Maria, two great grandchildren Nathan and Anne Bennett, both of Hillsboro, Oregon and numerous nieces and nephews.
