Mr. Adair passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at his residence. He was born on October 6, 1922 in Goodwater, Alabama to Robert Hurell Adair and Myrtle Ezell Smith Adair. He was a member of Flint Hill United Methodist Church and often cooked barbeque as a fundraiser for the church. Mr. Adair retired from the Army National Guard after serving honorably as a Chief Warrant Officer for over 30 years. As part of this service, he was in the Anti-Aircraft unit and served in World War II. Mr. Adair was an honorable and quiet man. He was an All-State running back in high school, enjoyed playing Rook, and was an avid Auburn and Braves fan.
He is survived by his step-son, Bobby James Duck (Patricia), of Crossville, TN; step-daughter, Gay Cummins of Tuscaloosa; son, Bobby Adair (Janice); special grandson, Blaine White (Kellie) of Anniston; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and brother, George Adair, of Alexander City.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Pauline Adair; parents; daughters, Celia McAlister and Carol Adair; son, David Adair; sister, Gene Sellers; and brother, Earl D. Adair.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Flint Hill United Methodist Church, 2858 Flint Hill Road, Alexander City, AL 35010.
