Annie's beloved Thomas was born in Ireland in May of 1848 and came to America in 1850 with his parents, James Fannan and Mary Lynch-Fannan. Thomas and his parents settled in New York City. Thomas worked as a New York City Firefighter his entire life and died in New York City on April 2, 1904.
Annie and her husband Thomas had nine children, eight of their children died while infants. Their only child to survive to adulthood was their son, Thomas Francis Fannan Jr.
Thomas Francis Fannan Jr. is buried with his parents Annie and Thomas Sr. as well as with his two wives, Laura C. Gray-Fannan and Lisbeth Black Reid-Fannan.
Thomas Francis Fannan Jr.'s first wife Laura C. Gray-Fannan, of Irish descent, was born in 1877 in New York. She was also the mother of their eight children. Laura C. Gray-Fannan died March 18, 1916 during the birth of their eighth child. Such child also died with her and is buried in this grave.
Lisbeth Black Reid-Fannan, of Scottish descent, was born in 1893 in New Jersey and died April 16, 1970 in New York. Lisbeth a/k/a Mom Mom to her step-children was Thomas Francis Fannan Jr.'s second wife. She is buried in this grave.
Anne Fannan-Behary and Miriam Fannan-Pitz the daughters of Thomas Francis Fannan Jr. and Laura C. Gray-Fannan are buried in this grave. Anne Fannan-Behary was born in New York in 1906 and died in 1982. Miriam Fannan-Pitz was born in 1914 in New York and died in 1994.
Lisbeth M. Behary is the granddaughter of Thomas Francis Fannan Jr. and Laura C. Gray-Fannan. She is buried in this grave. Lisbeth M. Behary was born in 1940 and died in 1975. She is the daughter of Anne Fannan-Behary.
As was customary at the time of Annie's death, she was waked at home at 594 Lenox Avenue, New York, New York as can be read in her obituary from The New York Herald, dated Tuesday, September 28, 1909.
"Fannan - At her residence, 594 Lenox Avenue. Annie, widow of Thomas F. Fannan. Funeral Tuesday, September 28, at half-past nine a.m.; thence to St. Mark's Church, 138th Street and Lenox Avenue. Interment Calvary Cemetery."
