OWENSBORO MESSENGER INQUIRER OBITUARY – 01/20/1995
Catherine Rapier Boggess, 85, of 107 E. 19th St, Owensboro, died Wednesday, January 18, 1995, at Hermitage Manor Nursing Home. She retired as a saleswoman for Prudential Insurance Co., was a former charter life underwriter for Prudential and was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and the Elizabeth Munday Senior Center. She was born in Daviess County to William F. & Chrissa Hart Rapier, graduated from St. Frances Academy in 1927 and started the Welcome Wagon in Owensboro in the early 1940s. A daughter, Mary Catherine Johnson, died in 1992. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, William Hampton Rapier in 1971 and Sylvester Louis Rapier in 1975, and by three sisters, Dorothy Rapier Seng in 1956, Mary Ellen Rapier in 1984 and Grace R. Boarman in 1989. Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Mrs. Joseph (Elaine) Nelson of Munster, IN, Mrs. George (Agnes) Jonischkies of Louisville, Joyce Moodey and Joan Boggess, both of Owensboro, and Fred Johnson of Mesa, AZ; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Burial in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. today and from 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
