Gladys Fearing,87, Osakis, died July 22, 2005 at Knute Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria.
Gladys Hubbertena Hendricks was born July 14, 1918 in Belle River township, Douglas Co., to William and Ida (Grundei)Hendricks. She was baptized at St. Nicholas Church in Belle River.
On October 20, 1938 Gladys married Robert P. Fearing. They lived and worked in Osakis where Bob operated a gravel/backhoe service and Gladys did the bookkeeping and managed their business. She was a member of Immaculate Confraternity and the St. Elizabeth Mission group.
Gladys was a talented seamstress who also enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting and other handwork projects. She was an excellent cook and kept her family supplied with many goodies she canned from the garden. She also had a green thumb and raised a beautiful flower garden each year. Besides enjoying socializing and playing cards. Gladys also enjoyed taking drives in the country and doting over her many grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandma and sister who will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her children, Joan (Douglas) Rutten, James (Sharon) Fearing, Mary (Robert) Schultz and Judi (Gregg) Anderson, all of Osakis; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, sisters, Evelyn Miller of Washington, Lorraine (Robert) Schlosser of Carlos; brother, Lloyd (Darlene) Hendricks of Osakis; sisters-in-law, Lois Hendricks of Osakis and Carmen Fearing of Washington; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Bob, who died in 1991; brothers, Raymond, Marvin and Martin Hendricks; and great-granddaughters, Ashley and Rachael Rutten.
A Mass of Resurrection was held July 25 with Fr. Dick McGuire officiating. The reader was Linda Keller and gift bearers where Brett Schultz, Brianne and Brandon Giesler. Servers were Haley Anderson and Alex and Stephan Rutten. The musicians were the From the Heart Singers, with soloist Julie Savoie.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Osakis with honorary pallbearers being her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Active bearers were grandsons, Brian Fearing, David Schultz, Nick Peterson, Kenny, Mike and Greg Rutten.
Arrangements were handled by Roy-Hetland Funeral HOme in Osakis.
