Last honors will be paid to Ora C. App, 92, pioneer resident of Bakersfield who died yesterday at his home, 1320 Brundage Lane, following an illness of several months.Mr. App was the patriarch of a large family including nine grand-children and 20 great-grandchildren. He was born June 16, 1866, in Coudersport, Pa., and spent his boyhood in Eldred, Pa. He was married in Pennsylvania and lived in Warren County until coming to Bakersfield in 1910. He worked in the oil fields and engaged in sales work in building materials until his retirement a number of years ago.
He and Mrs. App celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary four years ago, the couple enjoying a reception with family and friends and a quiet reunion was enjoyed last year, the wedding date begin Sept. 18, 1889.
Mr. App was a member of St. Paul's Church. The Rev. Victor R. Hatfield will be in charge of the services and the interment rites at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. App is survived by his widow, Ada, who resides at the family home; by his son Max S. App off Glennville, by his daughters Mrs. Walter Peterson and Mrs. H.N. Durrett, both of Bakersfield. Seven grandson will serve as pallbearers: Jack Durrett, Gene and Tom Durrett, all of Bakersfield; John App, of Glennville; Norman Peterson Inglewood and W.B. Camp Jr. and Donald Camp.
Other surviving grandchildren are Mrs. Frank Rhodes of Bakersfield; and Mrs. Elmer Lehman of Fresno.
Great-grandchildren surviving are: Richard and Virginia Rhodes, Mike, Gregory, and Kathy Durrett, and Lou Ann Durrett, all of Bakersfield; Yolanda and Susan App of Glennville; Ingrid Peterson of Inglewood; W.B. Camp III, Carl Bruce, David, Georgia, Don Jr., Edwin, and Clayton Camp, all of Bakersfield.
