Nehemiah was the first child of Nehemiah Andrews and Phebe Benham. He married Zerviah Gillett on 3 Oct 1791 in New Hartford, Litchfield, CT. Zerviah is believed to be the daughter of Matthew Gillett, Jr. and Lois Douglas. Nehemiah and Zerviah established their first home in New Hartford but between 1800 and 1810 removed to Barkhamsted. Their first child, a son, died in infancy on 15 Sep 1798. They had three additional children: Frances (Fanny), Willard and Leonard. They may have had one more child named William Tracy but this has not been proven.
Nehemiah, Jr. served in the American Revolution. He was in Capt. Benjamin Hutchen's Company, the same unit that his father served in.
