Ella Mae Banks, 73, of Orange, died on Saturday, April 7, 2012, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

She was born on January 22, 1939, in Orange County, a daughter of the late Hazel Graves Blakey. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Celia Williams.

Mrs. Banks was a member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church and was a nurses aide at the Dogwood Village of Orange.

She is survived by her husband, James K. Banks Sr. of Orange; four daughters, Marilyn Franklin of Orange, Helen Quarles of Gainesville, Alice Stanley of Orange, Angela Smith of Barboursville; two sons, James K. Banks Jr. and Larry Banks Sr., both of Orange; two brothers, William Blakey Jr. of Tazewell and Joe Blakey and wife of Orange; four sisters, Beatrice Williams of Unionville, Shirley Jacobs and Joanne Ruffner, both of Richmond, and Diane Walker of Orange; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church with interment at the church cemetery. Pastor Willie D. Crenshaw officiated. The family received friends Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the church.
