DEATH OF A PIONEER WOMAN
"Mrs. Olive Dement died in Oakland on Friday night. She was the widow of William C. Dement (died 1865), well known to all older residents in Oregon from his extensive business connections with them in earlier years. Mrs. Demont was the daughter of Rev. Hezekiah Johnson, deceased, and the mother of Mrs. C. P. Church, of Portland, Mrs. W. C. Bardsley of Walla Walla, and the Dement boys of Astoria and Walla Walla, who are business men in their respective communities. Mrs. Dement's remains will arrive by the steamer leaving San Francisco, Oct. 16, and will be buried in the family plot in Oregon City cemetery."
