John T. McNeill passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012, from complications of diabetes. John was born March 19, 1936, to Henry Elmer and Mable Pettit McNeill in Lehi, Utah. John married Peggy Ann Ratliff October 1, 1954 and had four daughters; divorced. He married Ann Turpin Faber, the mother of five children, on January 18, 1974. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They had one son, Mark, and reared two grandsons, Andrew and Eric McNeill.
John attended grade and middle schools in American Fork, serving with his parents on a mission in California. John graduated from American Fork High School in 1954. He was the original American Fork "Caveman." He was active in tennis and band, playing the tuba. At age 15 John passed his test for his pilot's license through the Civil Air Patrol. He loved to hunt, boat, shoot guns, and laugh along with his associates and family.
John became a project manager for several civil engineering companies, developing water and gas projects throughout the western states. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in several bishoprics and high councils. He loved the primary best of all.
He is survived by his wife, Salt Lake City; sister, Affra Nelson, Sandy; children Debra Griffin, Waynesville, MO; JoAnn (Bruce) Roper, Oak City; Teresa (Alan) Dastrup, Highland; Laura McNeill, South Jordan; David Robert (Laurie) Faber, Elk River, MN; Lisa (Jim) Burgess, Midvale; James (Collette) McNeill, West Jordan; John (Katena) McNeill, Herriman, 18 grandsons, eight granddaughters, and 22 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, daughter Linda Brown, son Mark McNeill, and great grandson Jordan James McNeill
Services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012, at 12:00 noon at Jordan Meadows Ward, 3935 South 1500 West. Friends may call Friday, from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in American Fork Cemetery, 800 North Center Street. Professional services by Independent Funeral Service.
