She was born Aug. 26, 1926, to Orlen Dewayne and Bessie Pearson in Des Moines, Iowa. She moved to Idaho as a child where she was raised with her two brothers and a sister. In 1944 she met the love of her life, Lawrence Almie Miller. They were married on Feb. 14, 1945. Later they had their first of 7 children, 3 boys and 4 girls; Larry, Vickey, Bonnie, Dick, Michiel, Rhonda and April. On Feb. 14, 1979, they were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Hazel made her husband and her children her life's work. Hazel enjoyed camping, going for Sunday rides with her husband and passing down recipes such as a family favorite "Chinese Casserole" and "Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies." Hazel loved to yodel while she worked around the house.
Hazel is survived by her husband of 67 years, Lawrence Sr.; her children, Larry Jr. (Tona), Vickey (Frank), Bonnie (Dale) Woodruff, Michiel "Okie," Rhonda (Terry) Line, and April (Tom) Livingston. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 50-plus great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; sister; son, Archie Dick Miller (Pie); two great-grandchildren, Andre and Casandra; and one great-great-granddaughter, Jordan.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday April 10, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at White Mortuary "Chapel by the Park" and at 10 a.m. at the 2nd Ward LDS Church, the Harrison Street South building in Twin Falls. A funeral service will follow at the church Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at 11 a.m. with interment to follow the service at Twin Falls Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Dustin Godfrey and the staff at White Mortuary "Chapel by the Park."
