Phyllis Jean Aggertt, 67, of rural Ashland, died Thursday, April 5, 2012, at St. John's Hospice in Springfield. She was born June 7, 1944, in Clarinda, Iowa, the daughter of Darryl and Mary Neal Farrens. She married Charles Stephen Aggertt on March 9, 1975, in Ashland, and he survives.

She is also survived by two sons, John Aggertt (wife, Andrea) of Mahomet and Colby Aggertt (wife, Hillary) of Washington, Ill.; a grandson, Bennett Aggertt of Mahomet; a brother, Rich Farrens (fiancée, Diana Kirkpatrick) of Washington Courthouse, Ohio; a sister, Pat Brush (husband, Larry) of Secor; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister-in-law, Cheryl Farrens.

She was a graduate of Eureka High School and Illinois State University. She was a devoted elementary teacher in Pleasant Plains School District for 34 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Ashland Women's Club and the Illinois Education Association. She enjoyed vacationing and travel experiences. She valued time spent with her family and friends especially her grandson.

Services were entrusted to Buchanan and Cody Funeral Home of Ashland, Illinois.
