Gloria (Roybal) Baltazar, 55, of Fort Sumner, a waitress and beautician died Thursday, July 29, 1999 at her home in Fort Sumner following an illness. Gloria was born May 29, 1944 in Yeso, NM, to the home of Rafael and Carolina Levario Roybal.

She attended school at Yeso until the fifth grade. Her family moved to Fort Sumner where she continued school, graduating in 1964. Gloria worked in area restaurants as a waitress for several years.

Gloria married Ismael Baltazar on October 2, 1971 in Fort Sumner.

She operated Gloria's Snack Bar, a school snack stand, for two years. She later received her cosmetology license and operated Gloria's Barber Styling in Fort Sumner until 1993. She has been in ill health since 1993.

Gloria taught C.C.D. at St. Anthony Parish in Fort Sumner for several years, she also taught Baptism classes for several years. She enjoyed reading and crocheting.

Gloria was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, the Eagles Club in Fort Sumner.

Her mother Carolina Roybal in 1980; two brothers Johnny Roybal in 1954 and Ignacio Roybal in 1998 preceded her in death.

Survivors include: her husband, Ismael Baltazar of Fort Sumner; a daughter, Linda Baltazar of Amarillo, TX; a son, Ismael Baltazar Jr. of Corpus Christi, TX; her father, Rafael Roybal Sr. of Fort Sumner; five brothers: Tommy and wife Grace Roybal of Fort Sumner; Lawrence and wife Emily Roybal of Silver City, NM; Rafael Roybal Jr. and wife Lucy; Manuel Roybal and wife Judy of Fort Sumner and Andy Roybal and wife Juanita of Rio Rancho, NM; one sister, Lucy Anaya of Fort Sumner; and a niece she loved as a daughter, Roberta Anaya, of Fort Sumner.
