She was a graduate of Milby High School, San Jacinto College, and the University of Houston, where she earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees. She taught in Pasadena ISD at South Houston Intermediate School and was a counselor at Parkview and Thompson Intermediates. She was preceded in death by parents, Cleatis and Mary Blair, and beloved sister, Rose Mary Blair. She is survived by her children, Richard Barker and Laura Barker; niece Hillary Smith; several aunts and numerous cousins; special friend Carol Giles; and many other friends, especially members of the Meadowbrook Garden Club.
