Clara L. Anderson, formerly of Stratford, Iowa passed away at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, Iowa on Tuesday morning, June 3, 1997, due to respiratory failure. She had been a resident at the Eastern Star Masonic Home since December of 1986.

She was born on January 4, 1902 in Scranton, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Christena (Johnson) Robertson.

One June 4, 1922 she married Arvid C. Anderson at the Danish Lutheran Church in Scranton, Iowa.

Clara taught in the rural schools in Guthrie County for a number of years before her marriage. In 1935 the couple moved to Stratford where they farmed until their retirement in 1967 when they moved to Boone.

She was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arvid in June of 1988, one daughter, Marion Watson in September of 1996, two brothers, four sisters, two grandsons; Roger and Dale, and one great-grandson.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Ruth Anderson of Dayton, Iowa, one daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Loren Patterson of Stratford, Iowa, 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Thursday morning, June 5, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone with Pastor Daniel W. Solomon officiating.

Interment will be in the South Marion Cemetery south of Stratford, Iowa.

Friends may call at the Stark Welin Chapel in Boone on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and again on Thursday morning from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service. The family will be present at the chapel on Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to greet friends.

Memorials may be given to Augustana Lutheran Church or the Eastern Star Masonic Home.
