Robert Lee Avary, III, 48, of Atlanta, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2006 as the result of a hemorrhagic stroke. Robert was born in Atlanta on January 25, 1958, the son of the late Robert Lee Avary, Jr. and the late Jeanne G. Avary. Robert attended Atlanta city schools, graduated from the Westminster Schools in 1976, and received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 1981. Robert was an entrepreneur and established ENet, a credit card processing firm which utilized early internet and computer technology. Later, Robert was a real estate developer, with an emphasis on north Georgia. Robert is survived by his wife Julia, his son, Robert Lee Avary, IV, his sister, Katharine Lee Avary and her husband, Allen B. Judy of Morgantown, WV, 5 first cousins, and a huge network of friends. Robert loved the outdoors, gardening, fishing, his dogs, and his friends. He was interested in technology and history and was a friend to everyone he met. He enjoyed helping people, fixing things and giving of himself. His organs were donated through Lifelink as his final gift to others.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 20th at 10 am at Oglethorpe Hill Chapel. Donations may be made in Robert's memory to the United Methodist Children's Home, 500 S. Columbia Dr. Decatur, GA. 30030. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 at H.M. Patterson & Son, Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road, NE.
