Mrs. Best was born April 2, 1927 in Hodgenville, Kentucky to parents Roy and Harriet Beeler Durham. She married Leonard Best on March 1, 1952 in Hodgenville and he preceded her in death on July 29, 1998.

Mr. and Mrs. Best came to Fairfield 43 years ago from Whitney, TX. For a number of years she worked as a clerk in the Freestone County Auditor's Office. Mrs. Best was a long time and very active member of the First United Methodist Church. Among her many activities and memberships were the United Methodist Women, Servant Circle, former Church Board member, Meals-on Wheels volunteer and annual Harvest Dinner. Mrs. Best was also known for her love of the Dallas Cowboys and Kentucky Wildcats.

In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are two children, Pat Sypert and husband Raymond of Temple; Richard Best and wife Kathy of Fairfield; one sister, Louis Reeve; four grandchildren, Casey Best; Brittany Bird; Abigail Zalkovsky and Sarah Sypert; three great-grandchildren, Braden Bird; Aidan Weise and Zakary Zalkovsky; and a very special niece, Sara Kaye McBride and husband Glenn of Canyon Lake.
