Ellen Tufts

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. April 28 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Eugene for Ellen W. Tufts of Eugene, who died March 25 of a stroke. She was 91.

She was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Los Angeles to Claude and Esther Crawford Welsh. She married Bill Tufts on June 26, 1943, in South Pasadena, Calif. He died July 1, 1990.

She graduated from Whittier College in California in 1941. Before having children, she worked as an elementary school teacher.

Survivors include two sons, John of Lacey, Wash., and Jim of Portland; a daughter, Judy Williams of Indianola, Wash.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Two grandsons, Michael Beil and Blake Tufts, died previously.

Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
