Joel was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas and graduated from South Park High School. He lived most of his life in Corpus Christi and Lake Jackson Texas before moving to Laneville.
He was a pilot and enjoyed flying, but also loved adventure and worked throughout the world including Iraq and Mexico.
He was proceded in death by his father Jack Kersh and mother Gloria Kersh.
He is survived by his children James Kersh, Adrian Kersh, and Lorie Kersh and nine grandchildren. He also has two brothers James Kersh and Timothy Kersh and a sister Patricia Adams.
