Religious figure. Ohio Presbyterian Clergyman of anti-slavery period. Founder of the Free Presbyterian Church of America and President of the Ripley College in Ripley, Ohio. He helped Eliza and George Harris, and other individuals from "Uncle Tom's Cabin" to freedom. He founded the American Reform Book and Tract Society of Cincinnati, and he was the author of several books, including "Covenant of Grace" in 1869.
