Phoenix -- A crippled World War I pensioner burned to death in his apartment Monday, but would-be rescuers, hearing his screams, were blocked by a locked door. The fire demolished the two room cabin court apartment of John N. Flowers, 63. Neighbors found Flowers front door latched, and flames pushed them back from the rear entrance, Cause of fire was not determined.
