Harm Krediet was born on 25 Sep 1861 in Sonnega, mun. Weststellingwerf, in the southern part of the Dutch northern province Friesland, and died after two days of heavy suffering from obstruction of his bowels in the hospital of Geddes, Charles Mix, SD.
He is the only child of Jan Harmens Krediet and Deekje Egberts Greveling and is very probably named for his grandfather Harmen Christoffel Krediet.
20 April 1889 he married in Wolvega, seat of municipality Weststellingwerf, Friesland, Netherlands, to Jacobje Winters.

27 Oct 1903 they arrived with their eight children on the ship Noordam at New York and resided firstly on three rented farms near Springfield, Avon and Tyndall in Bon Homme County in the southeastern part of South Dakota, where they had four more children. In 1916 they moved to Holland Township, about four miles northwest of the Dutch agrarian settlement Harrison in Douglas County, in southeast South Dakota too, where they had bought on 3 March 1913 the farm of Ole Iverson Sr.

In 1993 there were 425 descendants of them in the USA, who were/are all member of the Christian Reformed Church.
