Mary Kay passed away from complications of Krohns Disease on December 10, 2003, at KU Medical Center. The family requests any contributions be made to KU Medical Center.

Mary Kay was a 1978 graduate of Ward High School and a lifelong area resident. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Essie and Bernard Franchette. Survivors include her mother, Janice Stevenson; two brothers, Nick Rick; one sister, Angela and her companion, Tom; a niece and nephew that were the loves of her life, Zachary Thomas and Kelsie; two aunts and one uncle, Marilyn, and Pam and Bud; and many cousins. The family wishes to thank the doctors and the staff of KU Medical Center for the care that they gave to Mary Kay that went above and beyond their call of duty, especially Dr. Jamison Forrester and his team.

Mary Kay was a friend of mine. Even though we lived close to each other, we didn't see each other that often, but we spent many hours on the phone. She was such a wonderful person, so full of life even when it seemed the disease was getting her down. I miss her.
