Ferin was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (also known as HLHS or half a heart), is a rare congenital heart defect in which the left ventricle of the heart is severely underdeveloped. Surgery is only pallative. There is no cure.

We thank God for the blessing of having Ferin in our lives for 17, almost 18 years (he was 3 weeks away from his 18th birthday). Despite being sick his whole life, he managed to always make us laugh. He was such a good comedian and he is sorely missed.

Afterglow

I'd like the memory of me
to be a happy one,
I'd like to leave an afterglow
of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears, of those who
grieve, to dry before the sun
of happy memories that I leave
when life is done.
Your life was love and labor,
Your love for your family true,
You did your best for all of us,
We will always remember you.
