JoAnne Grubb, of Rockville, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore.
Born Nov. 2, 1939, in Olney, she was a daughter of the late Robert Bowie and Rose Rebecca Embrey Kisner.
Mrs. Grubb loved gardening, flowers, spending time with her family and helping out everyone. She had a heart of gold. She loved her coffee and Coca-Cola. Her faith was very important to her. Surviving are two daughters, Juanita Hamburg and husband, Melvin, of Frederick, and Wanda Keene and husband, Joe, of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, John Baker of St. Petersburg, Fla., Dylan "DJ" Thorne and Kenny Fontana, both of West Virginia, Glenn Fontana of Gaithersburg, Aiden Keene, Cameron Keene and baby girl Keene, all of North Carolina; one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson, both of St. Petersburg Fla.; seven brothers, James Kisner and wife, Betty, and Robert Roy Kisner, all of Frederick, Ricky Kisner of Roanoke Va., Ernie Kisner and wife, Brenda, of Damascus, Raymond Kisner and wife, Theresa, of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., Richard Kisner of Frederick, Roland Randy Kisner and significant other, Carla Bruce, of Rockville; and three sisters, Sharon McCusker of Charles Town, W.Va., Christine Howes, and Rosaley Day, both of Rockville. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She will also be remembered by her dog, Tiny.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Alice Baker and Ruth Mae Grubb; and two sisters, Ollie Mae Windsor and Myrtle Jane Kisner.

Mrs. Grubb is at the Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Homes, P.A., 1201 N. Market St., Frederick, where a memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009 with the Rev. Carroll A. Doggett Jr. officiating.

Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

The family requests that memorials be made in memory of Mrs. Grubb to the charity of one's choice.
