Vera Jordan Cearfoss, 87, of Millersville, MD, passed away on January 16, 2012 surrounded by family in the comfort of her daughter's home.
Vera was born on August 12, 1924 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late George and Anna Belle Jordan. She was raised in Brooklyn, MD and also resided in Glen Burnie, MD and Millville, DE.
She was a graduate of Southern High School in Baltimore, MD and a member of First Baptist Church of Brooklyn. She was employed by Arundel Federal Savings Bank and the Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles. In her retirement years, Vera volunteered in the gift shop at the Harbor Hospital in Baltimore. She enjoyed spending time with family and also enjoyed cooking and shopping.
Vera was preceded in death by her late husband, Charles Cearfoss, and her late sisters, Evelyn (husband Walter) Schools, Virginia (husband Roscoe) Ward, Elizabeth (husband James) Amos and her late brothers Jullian (wife Evelyn) Greenstreet, Bernard (wife Elizabeth) Greenstreet, and Oscar Greenstreet.
She is survived by her daughter * and son-in-law * of Millersville, MD; two loving granddaughters,* and husband * of Fishers, IN and * of Millersville, MD. Aunt Vera was adored by her many nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit on Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, where a funeral service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 1:30 pm. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense HWY, Annapolis, MD 21401 (www.hospicechesapeake.org) or to Guide Dogs for the Blind, Attn: Donations Dept., P.O.
