Richard Day Williams, age 65, of Toms Brook, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Cedar Creek Christian Church, Zepp.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Cedar Creek Christian Church with Pastor Ron Stiefel and Pastor Keith Warren officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Creek Christian Church Cemetery. Following the burial a reception will be held for family and friends at Liberty Baptist Church, Strasburg.
Mr. Williams was born August 8, 1946 at Lebanon Church, a son of Dorothy Ryman Williams of Lebanon Church and the late Charles B. Williams, II.
He was a member of Cedar Creek Christian Church where he was Elder and head Deacon and was a member of the Mountain Melodies singing group. He retired from Carmeuse Lime & Stone (formerly Chemstone) with 45 years of service.
Surviving with his mother are his wife, Peggy Funkhouser Williams; two sons, Timothy Allen Williams and wife, Wendy Pangle Williams of Strasburg and Thomas Alvin Williams of Toms Brook; a daughter, Tammy Williams Albright and husband Harry Albright of Toms Brook; two brothers, Earl Williams and wife Joy of Lebanon Church and Charles "Oscar" Williams and wife Kathy of Strasburg; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Trent May, Gary Strosnider, Robert Keller, Wayne Racey, T.J. Wiles and Louie McDonald.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Albright, Kayla Williams and Taylor Childs.
The family will receive friends at the Cedar Creek Christian Church on Tuesday from 12 Noon to service time.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Richard Williams funeral fund, c/o Stover Funeral Home, 177 N. Holliday St., Strasburg, VA 22657.
