Janelle Lisa Cruz
She was a poet, a warrior. A representation of all that is good in the world. She was a young woman who was struck down well before her time. But first, to us, she was just Janelle. :)
Her sense of life, fun and humor was infectious. The kind of girl where if she laughed, you laughed. And if she smiled, your heart just sore knowing she thought well of you.
Janelle loved her family, adored Marilyn Monroe and despite several hardships, graduated high school . She had tremendous ambition and looked forward to her bright future.
But all that changed on May 5, 1986.
Janelle came face to face with The Golden State Killer; California's most prolific serial killer/sex offender, in her own home. Unfortunately, the wrong person ended up walking away from that encounter.
Five long years had occurred since this madman claimed a victim and there would be no other murder after Janelle. The Golden State Killer came out of hiding for her--and then stopped. Why?
If you have any information about Janelle's murder (or the 100+ other crimes he committed), please get in touch with the authorities of Irvine, Sacramento and Santa Barbara, Ca. This case needs closure, for all the victims.
One thing though this monster can never take away from us is our love for Janelle. She will always be remembered throughout her family and friends, and live on in our hearts and minds.

I look forward to the day when The E.A.R./O.N.S. now known as The Golden State Killer is punished for all his crimes. Arrested on April 25, 2018. Sacramento will hold the trial.
