1947 ~ 2012
Keith Merrill Baker, 64, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away March 18, 2012 peacefully after an 18 month battle with cancer. He was born June 6th 1947 to Alice Garrison and Merrill Evan Baker of Ogden, UT.
Keith is survived by his wife Laura (Iverson) Baker, and his children; Brian (Connie), Bret, Rich (Jennie Tess), Rudy, Keith Williams (Breeann) and Jennifer (Justin) Morris, Sisters; Bonnie (Bob) Harris (Roy, UT), Barbara (Dale) Porter (Roy, UT), and brother Dale (Joan) of (West Jordan, UT). He has eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Keith was raised in Ogden, UT where he graduated from Bonneville High School in 1965. He later received a BA from Weber State University in 1972. He married Linda Jensen in 1966 and divorced in 1975. He married Laura Jean Iverson in 1978 in the Salt Lake Temple. They have been married for 34 years.
Keith took over a struggling sign business in 1975 along with two partners. Within a few years he became the sole owner of Impact Signs Inc. Keith was very proud of his company and the work they produced. He earned the love and respect of his employees and business associates. He served as President of the Western States Sign Council for 19 years and as a member of the International Sign Association Board of Directors for four years. He sold Impact Signs to two of his sons and a trusted employee in 2008. Afterwards, he started a second company, NGL Supply with a partner Kenny Alton.
Keith served faithfully in the LDS church throughout his life. He had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and the Plan of Salvation. He served as a counselor in three different bishoprics, as a temple ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple and recently had the privilege of serving as High Priest Group Leader. He loved the men that he served.
Keith loved taking his wife and children on family vacations. He always said he wanted his family to have wonderful memories of being together. He and Laura enjoyed traveling around the globe together with their friends the Dearings and the Garners. Keith spent many hours in his barn crafting woodworking projects for his home and family. Laura always called his shop a "mini-Home Depot".
He was loved by his family and friends. He will be missed by all who new him.
A viewing will be held on Friday, March 23 from 6-9 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley located at 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy. (10600 S.). Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 24th at 10:00 a.m. at the Mountain View Stake Center located at 2901 West 9000 South with a viewing from 9-10 a.m. prior to the services. Interment Roy City Cemetery.
