On October 7, 1961 he was united in marriage to DeLoris Hintz Gustafson. The family farmed near Tyler until 1981 when they moved into Tyler. Arild worked at Swift and Company in Marshall and also was caretaker at the Vista and Morning Apartments for several years.
Arild served as president of the Hope 4-H Club when it was at its' largest membership of over 100 members. He also served on the Board of the Tyler Creamery and also Southwest Dairy Association for many years. He was a member of Danebod Lutheran Church.
On November 10, 2001, Arild Leroy Kruse died at his home in Tyler, Minnesota, at the age of 84 years, 1 month, and 29 days.
He is survived by his wife DeLoris of Tyler, sons; Ron Kruse of Champlin, MN, Rory Gustafson of Galva, Kansas, Ryan Gustafson of Salem, Oregon, and daughter ReeAnne Williams of Boise, Idaho; seven grandchildren and one step great granddaughter. He is also survived by three sisters; Edna Shriver of Tyler, Harriet Sorensen of Peterboro, New Hampshire, and Milda Ecklund of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Rolf and Eilif, and a sister Anitra.
