He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Maurice Burks.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Ramsey Burks; a son, Billy Burks; two daughters, Lois Cille and Gail Owens; a brother, James Burks; two sisters, Rachel Argue and Carolyn Foster; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
