Elden R. Bowers, 83, of Sara A. Todd Memorial Home, 1000 W. South St., and formerly of Newville Road, died Friday in the home.
He was a former employee of Carlisle Baking Co., and was retired from the Navy Ships Parts Control Center, Hampden Twp.; was an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of Newville Church of the Brethren, its Sunshine Workers Sunday School Class, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred E. Heller Bowers; two sons, Kenneth R., and Robert E.; two daughters, Mary Jane Hippensteel, and Doris Shearer; a stepson, Russell Campbell; a stepdaughter, Dixie Zeigler; a brother, Kenneth E.; seven sisters, Isabel Burkholder, Kathryn Roth and Edna Snyder, Betty Worley, Reba Cressler, Mary E. Kutz, and Jean Donnelly; 18 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home. Burial will be in Newville Cemetery.
Viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of his church, 16 Carlisle Road, Newville 17241.
