Noah Grant Abbey, b. June 25, 1840 ; d. May 10, 1865 ; not m.

He enlisted in Aug., 1862, in Company A, 83d Illinois Volunteers ; served chiefly in Tennesse and Kentucky ; was present at the battle of Fort Donelson and had charge of a siege gun that repeatedly drove back the enemy. For his bravery he was highly commended by General Harding. He died as a result of wounds received in an encounter with guerillas near Uniontown, (Union Co) Ky., May 2, 1865.
