Edith Anderson, 88, of Dawson, died Wednesday, March 20, 1996 at the Madison Hospital in Madison.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson, Rev. Paul Christopher and Rev. Sandra Hanawalt officiated. Jeanne Peterson was organist for the service, with Rev. Paul Christopher as soloist. Honorary casketbearers were Vernon Carlson, Harris Dahl, Winfield Dahl, Lloyd Olson and Virgil Peterson. Active casketbearers were Donvain "Tom" Anderson, Lonn Anderson, Bradley Anderson, David Anderson, Tobais Anderson and Douglas Olson. Internment was at the Providence Lutheran Cemetery in rural Dawson, Edith Gertrude Carlson was born April 22, 1907 at Dawson, the daughter of Axel and Augusta (Bengtson) Carlson. She attended school and grew to adulthood in Maxwell Township, Lac qui Parle County.
Edith was united in marriage with Hjalmer Anderson on April 8, 1926 at Dawson. They farmed in Providence Township before moving into Dawson in 1966.
Hjalmer died Sept. 20, 1969. Edith moved to the Madison Lutheran Home in the fall of 1995. She enjoyed doing needle work, as well as quilt and rug making. Edith also loved kittens.
She is survived by eight children: Kenneth and Leona of Madison, Adelia Plinske of Chaska, Palmer and Waneta of Watertown, SD, DeVonne and Morris Listrud of Rockford, Ill., DeLaine and Ray Tisdale of Eastanolle, Ga., Joan Olson of Chaska, Milton and Bev of Anoka, and Richard and Peggy of Chanhassen; 42 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; one sister, Hildur Knutson of Amery, Wisc.; and four daughters-in-law, Marilyn Anderson, Virginia Smith, Bette Anderson and Rosie Anderson.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Hjalmer; four sons; Donvain, Roger, James and Alvis; two grandchildren: Becky Anderson and Kevin Listrud; one son-in-law, Arlis Plinske; and two brothers Adolph and Fingal Carlson.
