Arthur Dahlberg

Arthur Ferdinand Dahlberg of Coronado Shores in Lincoln City died of heart failure Feb. 25, 2012, at Lakeview Senior Living. He was 84.

Arthur was born Dec. 4, 1927, in St. Paul, Minn. to Arthur F. Dahlberg and Gladys Greenslit Dahlberg.

He attended high school and MacAlester College in Minnesota with a BA, and San Francisco Theological Seminary with a Masters degree and Doctorate.

After college graduation he served as a youth minister in Arcadia, Calif., where he met and married his wife, Diane. After seminary he worked with youth, the poor and unemployed while serving his church in San Francisco. He started the church and community group which helped troubled youth, provided shelter for the homeless and helped others find jobs. All this was before there were government agencies to help assist people in this area. He received commendations for this.

Arthur was a pastor who served churches in southern and northern California, Arizona and Oregon. He was a member of the various presbyteries where he served. He was also a member of Kiwanis — who emphasize in helping children.

Art loved music and had a deep base voice. He played cornet which he started playing at 6 years old. He became so proficient by age 10 he played with the high school marching band. He loved classical music. He was deeply interested in peacemaking throughout his ministries. He also enjoyed reading.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Dahlberg of Lincoln City; children Eric Dahlberg (Melanie), Carol Morgan, Wendy Post, Susan Anderson (Tom); grandsons Marty, Eric and Adam; granddaughter Violet; and many cousins in Minnesota.

His parents; brothers Roger and David Dahlberg; and sisters Arlys, Darlene and Susan all died earlier.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Chapel By The Sea Presbyterian Church in Lincoln City at 11 a.m. on March 13, 2012, with a reception to follow.
