Charles Eugene Cable, 63, of Anacortes, died Dec. 27, 2000 in Burlington, WA He was born July 18, 1937 in Johnson City, TN, son of Samuel and Mabel (Murray)Cable.
Charles was raised and received his schooling in Johnson City. He joined the US Marine Corps in 1954 and was honorable discharged in 1958. In 1959, he moved to Anacortes. Charles married Shirlee Childs in 1960 in Couer D'lene, ID He was a commercial fisherman and a skilled union laborer for almost 40 years. He was a member of Local 292 and 242 and also a member of the Elks.
He is survived by his wife, Shirlee; his daughter, Jodee Cable of Burlington; two step-sons, Bill Pontius of Anacortes and Greg Pontius of Edmonds; two step-daughters, Heather Greenway and husband Doug, of Bothel, Susan Williams and husband Allan, Burlington; brother-in-law Russ and Audrey Childs of Anacortes; sister Bobbie and Roy Garvin of TN; sister-in-law, Norma Carpenter of Anacortes; sister-in-law, Bev and Dub Angus of Anacortes; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m Saturday, Dec. 30th at Evan Euneral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to a charity that benefits the handicapped. Arrangements are are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel, Anacortes.
