Wilmer A. Abitz, 79, formerly of 1 Chickadee Court, North Fond du Lac, and a resident of Fond du Lac Health Care Center, died today, Oct. 30. 1991, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born Dec. 7, 1911, in Hilbert, a son of Frank and Clara Broehm Abitz. On Aug. 1, 1934, he married Agnes Ritchie at Church of Peace. Mr. Abitz farmed in the Town of Lamartine for 27 years. He was employed by Rueping Leather Co. and Mercury Marine, and was a member of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 1947. Survivors include seven sons, Wilmer K. and his wife Arlene, Donald and his wife Donna, Arthur and his wife Cheryl, Dennis and his wife Sherry, and Randall and his wife Debra, all of Fond du Lac, Robert and his wife Terry of Lambertville, N.J., and Mark of Madison; three daughters, Patricia Smith and her husband Lee of the Town of Fond du Lac, Gloria Struzynski and her husband Richard of Madison, and Carol Jean Oechsner and her husband Jim of Waupun; 23 grandchildren; 18 greatgrandchildren; and seven brothers, Harold, Lester and his wife Marion, Norman, Leonard, Raymond and his wife Evelyn, and Victor and his wife Emma, all of Fond du Lac, and LeRoy and his wife Ethel of Eldorado. Preceding him in death were his wife on Sept. 14, 1986; one son, Clarence; two grandchildren, Wendy Smith and Daniel Abitz; and one sister, Viola. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Uecker-,Witt Funeral Home. The Rev. Martin Koehler will officiate, and burial will be in Es-tabrooks Cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
